Fees, Payments & Billing Policy
Clear, itemized pricing for notarial acts and related professional services
The main rule
A fee for a notarial act is charged only when that act is performed. Mobile, travel, scheduling, printing, courier, technology, witness, facilitation, and other professional services are separate charges that may become earned before a notarization is completed.
1. Purpose and scope
This Policy explains how MzNotaryMN quotes, itemizes, collects, allocates, refunds, and updates fees. It applies to consumer appointments unless a written loan assignment, business retainer, corporate agreement, or other service-specific contract states different terms.
The fee schedule below reflects MzNotaryMN prices approved July 23, 2026. A specific written quote or invoice may vary because of distance, complexity, number of signers or acts, facility access, printing, witnesses, deadlines, parking, tolls, shipping, government charges, or other disclosed requirements.
2. Notarial-act charges and separate professional-service charges
MzNotaryMN charges $5 for each applicable notarial act, within Minnesota fee limits. The notarial-act charge covers the act shown in the completed notarial certificate. It is separate from charges for travel, mobile convenience, reserved appointment time, priority scheduling, printing, document handling, witness coordination, technology, courier work, apostille facilitation, parking, tolls, waiting, and other agreed services.
A separate service charge is not converted into a notarial fee merely because it appears on the same invoice. Each invoice identifies the notarial-act component separately or clearly shows how it is allocated within a package.
3. Quotes, estimates, invoices, and appointment confirmation
Website prices are standard rates or starting ranges. MzNotaryMN reviews the service details before confirming the appointment and provides an itemized quote or invoice. The appointment is confirmed only after MzNotaryMN accepts the request and the required payment or approved billing arrangement is in place.
The itemized quote or invoice for the specific appointment controls over a general website range. No additional MzNotaryMN charge is added without disclosure and agreement, except a documented pass-through charge such as parking, tolls, shipping, government fees, or waiting time handled under the confirmed terms.
4. Mobile notarization rates
The standard mobile totals include the first $5 notarial act only when that act is actually performed.
Trips over 50 round-trip miles add $0.76 per mile under MzNotaryMN's business mileage rate. The quote may also include disclosed parking, tolls, facility-access, waiting, or unusual-route costs.
5. Priority, witness, waiting, and related charges
Witness availability and eligibility are not guaranteed. You may provide your own qualified witnesses when the document and applicable law permit.
6. Remote online notarization rates
The quote may separate the notarial-act charge, MzNotaryMN service component, and third-party platform or technology charge. Third-party refund rules may apply to the platform component.
7. Estate-planning and facility appointment rates
Estate-planning package prices cover signing coordination and related service for client-provided documents. MzNotaryMN does not draft, select, interpret, or recommend estate-planning documents.
8. Apostille, authentication, and courier rates
Service fees become earned as eligibility screening, preparation, custody, scheduling, travel, courier, shipping, or government-processing work begins. Government approval, foreign acceptance, and turnaround times are not guaranteed.
9. Loan signing, reverse mortgage, business, and I-9 rates
Loan-signing fees may include printing up to 300 pages, up to 90 round-trip miles, signing facilitation, and local package drop-off when stated in the assignment. Travel beyond 90 round-trip miles is $0.76 per mile under MzNotaryMN's business rate. Hiring-entity agreements control their assignments.
10. Package prices and allocation when an act is not performed
When a flat rate or package includes one or more notarial acts, the invoice identifies or internally allocates the notarial-act component. If an included act is not performed, that component is removed or refunded. Mobile, reserved-time, travel, printing, witness, courier, technology, preparation, facility, or other services actually performed may remain earned.
If fewer acts are completed than expected, the final invoice reflects the number of acts actually performed while preserving any separately earned package or service charges.
11. Payment timing and accepted methods
Payment is due before the notarization is performed unless a written loan assignment, retainer, approved business account, or other agreement provides different terms. Accepted methods are credit or debit card, Zelle, cash, cashier's check, and money order. MzNotaryMN does not add a separate credit-card surcharge.
A receipt is provided or made available. Cash refunds are issued by business check or another mutually agreed traceable method. Returned or failed payments may delay or cancel the appointment.
12. Third-party and government charges
Government filing or authentication charges, platform fees, shipping, carrier, translation, consular, parking, toll, witness, facility, and other third-party amounts may be listed separately. These amounts may be non-refundable once paid or incurred, subject to applicable law and the third party's rules.
13. Discounts, waivers, promotions, and written exceptions
MzNotaryMN may offer a written promotion, courtesy adjustment, discount, or fee waiver. An exception applies only to the appointment or agreement in which it is given and does not require the same exception in another situation. Discounts are applied consistently and never based on a protected characteristic.
14. Cancellations, no-shows, and incomplete appointments
The Refund, Redo & Cancellation Policy controls cancellation, no-show, incomplete-service, RON-failure, apostille-rejection, and correction situations. In every case, a fee for a notarial act is retained only when that act was performed. Other services already performed or third-party costs already incurred may be non-refundable.
15. Chargebacks and billing questions
Please contact MzNotaryMN promptly with a billing question so the quote, invoice, appointment record, and services performed can be reviewed. Nothing in this Policy waives a nonwaivable right under payment-card, contract, or consumer law.
16. Fee changes and controlling version
Fees may be updated prospectively. The prices and policy presented when the appointment is confirmed generally govern that appointment. A later price change does not change a confirmed appointment unless both parties agree or a legal or third-party requirement makes an adjustment necessary.
When there is a conflict, the following order controls for the specific service: a signed service-specific agreement or hiring-entity assignment; the confirmed itemized quote or invoice; this Policy; then a general website fee range.
